Personal Attendant / Caregiver
Lighthouse Living Services, LLC – Supported Living Services
Pay: $17.00 – $20.00 per hour
Work Location: In-person (client’s private home & community settings)

Lighthouse Living Services is seeking compassionate and dedicated Personal Attendants to provide essential, individualized support to adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
Clients may require support ranging from minimal assistance with daily routines to high levels of supervision and behavioral support. Some clients may display challenging behaviors, and staff must respond with patience, professionalism, and training.
As a Personal Attendant, you will play a vital role in promoting independence, safety, and quality of life while honoring each client’s preferences, rights, and dignity.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-on-one supervision to ensure client safety and well-being.
Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, bathing, feeding, and hygiene.
Support clients with mobility assistance (safe transfers, gait belts).
Provide emotional support, companionship, and reassurance.
Assist with independent living skills (meal prep, grocery shopping, budgeting, light housekeeping related to client’s care).
Offer prompts and assistance with medication organization (staff do not administer medication).
Implement individualized care plans for clients with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
Engage clients in meaningful activities that build social interaction, community integration, and cognitive function.
Complete accurate daily documentation of services and progress.
Respond appropriately to emergencies or behavioral incidents using agency-approved protocols and de-escalation techniques.
Follow all agency policies, including confidentiality, mandated reporting, and HIPAA compliance.
Qualifications
Required
Minimum 18 years of age with high school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with safe client transfers.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform moderate physical activity for extended periods.
Patience, empathy, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and follow individualized support plans.
Must pass DOJ/FBI background check and meet all regulatory requirements.
If driving is required: valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and acceptable driving record.
Preferred
Experience as a caregiver, home health aide, nursing assistant, or direct support professional.
Experience supporting individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, mental health needs, or challenging behaviors.
CPR & First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days).
Strong observation, communication, and de-escalation skills.
Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development.
Work Environment & Schedule
Services provided in the client’s private home and community.
Comfortable working in close proximity while maintaining professional boundaries.
May require support for clients with challenging behaviors, following safety and de-escalation procedures.
Flexible scheduling available: day, evening, weekend, and overnight shifts.
May require travel between client homes or community locations.
